Thresh-o-Ween didn’t go exactly how I planned what with the not posting more than four things about Thresh and nothing else either, but… well, if you’re young or something you can just take it as a life lesson about false promises I guess! Yeah, we’ll go with that. In all seriousness though, there will be more Thresh stuff at another date probably, maybe as part of a broader-themed October in the future. For now I wanted to roundup all the Thresh-o-Ween posts before moving onto new stuff, so if you missed anything, here you go:
Okay, let’s try this again. I’m going to resume some posting on this site. You know. My personal blog. For posting things.
Here’s a collection of all the posts I’ve made on other websites during my absence, just like I did last time. However, I think this is going to be the new format for my posts containing stuff from other sites. Every Monday I’ll do one of these here Offsite Post Roundups, and I’ll include links to any articles, videos, or other posts and contributions I’ve made on other websites since the last Roundup. I may still make posts entirely about anything I found especially noteworthy, sorta like I did before, but otherwise I’ll be doing it this way. Should create less clutter on this site I think. For now we’ll be referring to this long blackout of activity on this site as “The Great Darkness”. That’s not over-dramatic at all. Alright, without further ado:
Okay so, wow, it’s been a while. Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth in terms of posting here on my blog. Actually, I have been doing things elsewhere, I just haven’t been posting about them on here like I usually do. This post is a collection of links to all of the stuff on Zelda Dungeon and my YouTube channel that I posted but haven’t updated you guys on here.
I’ll post about the new series I just started on Pokemon Dungeon and the Zelda Dungeon video I posted just today in their own posts. Continue reading
I appeared a lot on the latest Z-Talk podcast on Zelda Dungeon, #26, a Halloween-themed podcast. This is obviously a podcast I would insist to be on a lot, dur. I actually didn’t mean to have this many segments, but I was brainstorming and I had a lot of ideas. At least they’re short! Three Wandering Beast segments and a blooper appearance of sorts. The segments discuss my dissatisfaction with horror themes in Zelda and then the idea of having actual Halloween themes in the games. I actually wrote and recorded these MONTHS ago, not long after I did the Epona one. Anyway, check it out here (alongside the other segments of course!)
I posted Curiosity Shop #101 on Zelda Dungeon earlier today. Had to take a bit of a break from it because I had a cold… on top of my previous flu. Yeah, fun. Anyway this is the first normal mailbag since the epically long #100. I answered 12 questions on a variety of topics, old and new. It’s kind of a typical mailbag experience, so I guess it proves that while some things have changed with the mailbag… nothing has. You can watch it here!
New playlist! This one’s heavily October themed to go with the rest of the posts on the site. There were a couple of songs that didn’t work (mainly from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Silent Hill), but there’s still some cool spooky stuff on here from other games. Not every song is creepy, but I think most of them are at least seasonal! Check it out! There’s 17 songs total. Continue reading for the tracklist and a bigger playlist embed if you don’t like my sidebar for some reason (what is wrong with you?).
I wrote an editorial over on Zelda Dungeon about night in the Zelda series. Mainly it was inspired by how poorly I felt the nighttime mechanics were handled in Skyward Sword, which I thought was particularly unfortunate because the visuals for it were so beautiful in that game. Some other games, like Twilight Princess, also did some fancier things with night, and in this editorial I just go over my thoughts on it briefly. You can read it here.
What did you think of nighttime in Zelda, and in Skyward Sword? Tell me in the comments!
Alright guys! I finally finished Mailbag #100 and it went up on Zelda Dungeon earlier today. It’s a huge, honking mailbag that goes over 42 minutes and has 54 questions. Big thanks to all the support and help I’ve received over the last 100 mailbags, and hopefully I can do another 100! The new logo and intro also show up for the first time. The mailbag will go back to a normal schedule and length after this. Anyway, check it out here.
