What’s this? A Zelda-themed post that isn’t a link to Zelda Dungeon? I wanted to feature one of my favorite Zelda monsters, and a post like this wouldn’t really fit in over there, so here you go. Scaldera, boss of the Earth Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. During all the pre-release info about the game, I saw Scaldera and thought he was going to be awesome. I ended up predicting that he would be one of my favorites of the game… and in the end the only boss I enjoyed more was Lord Ghirahim. But Ghirahim isn’t a monster! Scaldera is! Clearly this was not obvious enough to prevent me from saying it! Continue reading
I wrote an editorial over on Zelda Dungeon about night in the Zelda series. Mainly it was inspired by how poorly I felt the nighttime mechanics were handled in Skyward Sword, which I thought was particularly unfortunate because the visuals for it were so beautiful in that game. Some other games, like Twilight Princess, also did some fancier things with night, and in this editorial I just go over my thoughts on it briefly. You can read it here.
What did you think of nighttime in Zelda, and in Skyward Sword? Tell me in the comments!
Yeah sorry for the absence on here. I’ll discuss what happened in the next post. Here’s a full list of all the Zelda Dungeon posts and videos I’ve done since then; I like to keep this news page up-to-date on my stuff:
You might have seen me bring this up on my personal Twitter and on Facebook, but I’ve recently resumed activity on my previously very inactive Ghirahim character Twitter feed, @Lord_Ghirahim. On this feed I basically tweeted 100% in-character as if I was Ghirahim, making general statements and updates while replying to people who talk to “Ghirahim”.
I also recently just started up a new character Twitter feed, Amon from Legend of Korra (@Leader_Amon). Both of these feeds should be pretty active from here on out. So check them both out!
Okay, after problems getting mailbags up the previous two weeks, finally got a new mailbag. Mailbag #088 covers a lot of questions about future Zelda games (including E3-related ones), and the rest are spread out over the rest of the games in the series. You can watch it here.
Posted the second-to-last Skyward Sword Dungeons editorial on Zelda Dungeon, going over the Fire Sanctuary. I only have the Sky Keep to go, but it might be a week or two before then because of the Zelda Dungeon marathon. Here’s a link to the editorial.
Over the last few days I’ve done two videos on TheZeldaDungeon’s YouTube channel. The most recent one barely got up in time before E3, and is my Axle’s Zelda Predictions video for the year. The other one is titled Two Bad Arguments Against Skyward Sword, and discusses, well, two criticisms the game receives that are false.
This is the latest of the Skyward Sword Dungeons series I’m doing on Zelda Dungeon (analyzing all the dungeons in-depth, going over them in order). I realize I’ve neglected to link to most of them, so continue reading to view the full current list with links. Continue reading
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Humorous Fanfiction)
…Yeah I’m not sure what’s wrong with me. This was a gift fanfiction I wrote for a member of ZeldaDungeon.net’s forums for a Secret Santa event we did over December. Each of the participants was randomly given another one to do a gift for, and we’d make a gift for them in secret before it was given to them by the event’s organizer.
It’s… pretty crazy. It’s intended as a humorous fanfic and isn’t at all serious. It’s basically a parody of most of the romantic relationships in Skyward Sword, or implied/possible relationships. It’s written as though it’s some kind of essay because… I don’t know. Continue reading
