Offsite Post Roundup – The Great Darkness

Okay, let’s try this again. I’m going to resume some posting on this site. You know. My personal blog. For posting things.

Here’s a collection of all the posts I’ve made on other websites during my absence, just like I did last time. However, I think this is going to be the new format for my posts containing stuff from other sites. Every Monday I’ll do one of these here Offsite Post Roundups, and I’ll include links to any articles, videos, or other posts and contributions I’ve made on other websites since the last Roundup. I may still make posts entirely about anything I found especially noteworthy, sorta like I did before, but otherwise I’ll be doing it this way. Should create less clutter on this site I think. For now we’ll be referring to this long blackout of activity on this site as “The Great Darkness”. That’s not over-dramatic at all. Alright, without further ado:

Twilight Princess Dungeons: Snowpeak Ruins

I posted the next Twilight Princess dungeon review on Zelda Dungeon today, reviewing the game’s fifth dungeon, Snowpeak Ruins. This is one of my favorite dungeons in Twilight Princess and possibly its best, although I don’t think I really realized that until my last run through it this past weekend. This is one of my longest dungeon reviews, but there was a lot for me to say about Snowpeak Ruins.

I really love the second boss theme for this dungeon. It’s a really epic song alongside being really pretty, and it’s just always made a huge impression on me. One of the best battle themes in Zelda history if you ask me. Anyway, you can read the review here. Enjoy! Tell me what you thought of Snowpeak Ruins!

The Benefits of Nighttime in Zelda

I wrote an editorial over on Zelda Dungeon about night in the Zelda series. Mainly it was inspired by how poorly I felt the nighttime mechanics were handled in Skyward Sword, which I thought was particularly unfortunate because the visuals for it were so beautiful in that game. Some other games, like Twilight Princess, also did some fancier things with night, and in this editorial I just go over my thoughts on it briefly. You can read it here.

What did you think of nighttime in Zelda, and in Skyward Sword? Tell me in the comments!

The End of a Savage

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Oneshot Fanfiction)
Rated T. Contains general and vague references to injury, combat, death, warfare, abandonment, feral children, and… cannibalism. Also mild swearing, just “damn” a lot.

Technically written before Twilight Successors. This fanfiction centers on King Bulblin and is basically him doing a personal retrospective of his life, with a lot of creative liberties taken. Though I do feel it ties in pretty nicely with the canon plot, and most who’ve read it agree. The comments I’ve gotten for this fic have been the best praise I’ve ever gotten. It’s a favorite of mine, and it’s definitely better than Twilight Successors, although some might like that better due to themes. This fic needs more love though; it’s better than Twilight Successors. :< Continue reading

Twilight Successors

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Oneshot Fanfiction)
I’d rate this PG. Nothing really to worry about other than some mild references to death.

Uploading old fanfictions and stories in order to make a page similar to the Articles one, then there will be new stories. This is actually something I wrote in two days (though don’t be alarmed by that statement; I do some of my best work under pressure). I wrote it to make the deadline of a fanfiction contest on LegendofZelda.com, which it won (hah, less alarming now, isn’t it?). Light Midna x Zant. Kind of a romance fic, but there’s more serious drama in here. It’s a prequel to TP after all. Obviously no romance ever really worked out. Continue reading
